Basically, Blush

HI! Like every other blogger, in the past year or so, I've collected a few basic knit dresses from Old Navy (^this one^, the gray fit & flare, the swing.) I think the appeal behind these dresses is: they're effortless, comfortable, and limitless in terms of styling. But is it weird that I find them SUCH a blank canvas that I get overwhelmed, and have trouble styling them? This is the paradox of choice rearing its' ugly head again, I suppose.

I want to train myself to reach for one of these when I'm running late (every single morning) and am having trouble getting dressed (pretty much every day.) I don't think there's a wrong way to wear them. What's that quote, simplicity is the ultimate sophistication? What's your go-to ensemb for a simple knit dress?

In other news- I need to stop buying blazers because I just don't like them. I don't find them comfortable or especially flattering on me. I guess I just haven't found that "unicorn blazer" that completes me. The struggle is alive and well.

Oh, and if you're wondering about this hairstyle- it isn't. I had planned to do something, ANYTHING to it this morning, but a few extra minutes of sleep won out instead. They usually do!

Last time I wore this dress / blazer / loafers.

Look who's hanging out with me this week! Isn't she cute?

here's her whole ensemb that she wanted to share -->
| scarf: Stitch Fix | blouse: Old Navy (gifted by me! Same as this one.) | jeans: Lucky | flats: Tieks (she swears by these!) | bracelets: gift |

Galina flew in last night, and was kind enough to snap some photos for me today after lunch! Good thing too, because although I've been wearing clothes (nothing too remarkable, mind you), I've had trouble finding that combo of daylight + a willing photographer lately.

I'm a lucky girl to have my big sis come hang with me just because. We've got some plans for the week that include makeovers with Kelley, hiking at Percy Warner, some line dancing, and of course, so many Nashville eats (possibly including soup at Huntee's new place?)

What's everybody up to this week? What's everybody wearing this week??

I think you look super chic in blazers, but if you don't feel comfortable in them then you should only wear what you love! Those metallic shoes are ah-mazing!!

love this very simple but chic at the same time. I have been wearing a lot of pink clothing and sweaters.

Hey she's just as stylish as you are! I am so with you on blazers. I like they look awesome but they are so uncomfortable and not really warm at all! I think your blush one looks quite nice on you actually! Basic pieces are so great for those days when you don't know what to wear. I have several black knit dresses for this same reason!

I feel you on blazers! I keep trying to make them work but they just don't!

I love your combo here! I find myself reaching for a basic dress and patterned cardi whenever I get bored or have a limited amount of time. But then I always feel so "unoriginal". How do people look so effortless with simple pieces?? I digress.

You and your sister look uber stylish! Can this be a new blog series??

You're sweet :) I am so glad I'm not the only one that feels that way!!

I'll get them in here whenever I can! They are usually behind the camera! Patterned cardi- great thinking. I just have a couple of those, but that would work! Thanks!

Awww, thank you for linking up to me, Priya! I looove these kinds of dresses :) I am with you on blazers as well - I always think they look so great on other people (for the record, I love how this one looks on you!) and on the hanger, but I just don't look great in a blazer! I've gotten rid of all but one of my blazers, and I don't miss them at all!

I have yet to add one of these easy breezy dresses to my closet, but I totally agree with the quote. I like the blazer on you... but I'm totally with you! I love the way they elevate and complete a look, but I often times feel constricted in them as well and I only have about 1 that I actually like the fit of. Those gold loafer make the whole outfit so fun!
