Liebster Outfit #1

New post up on a Sunday? Believe me, no one is as surprised as this girl.

Howdy-doo with my next set of outfit photos shot by my talented friend Stephanie. I'd like to take this opportunity to say that I no longer believe in color rules of any kind. It's 2014, there's no such thing as color rules! Mo' colors, no rules, that's what I say.

| top: secondhand J.Crew (via Shelby) | skirt: thrifted | heels: Target | earrings: Forever 21 |

I've been trying out several color combos like this, usually involving this perfect pink blouse. As much as I love it, that's how much I hate getting it dry-cleaned. I tried it out with red pants here (mortified by how wrinkly my shirt is in this picture. Don't judge.) The pink + red combo makes me feel like a happy little Valentine, so I couldn't wait to try it out with this skirt. I opted for another punch of the same palette with the shoes here; but full-disclosure, when I wore this to work, I wore my orange wedges instead. Much comfier and I loved that color combo too.

Ok enough blady blah about my outfit. Two sweet girls nominated me for the Liebster award recently, and while I've already done the whole process before, I can't resist answering fun interview style questions.

First up is from Gigi at Dolce and Gabriella; such a cute girl, who expertly covers some unique topics on her blog. I love her effortlessly cool style and her DIY tutorials (making your own jorts, which I'm dying to do, here!) Plus she's enjoying my home state right now, and I love viewing it through her eyes! Thanks for the nomination Gigi!

1. Fill in the blank: I got 99 problems but _____ ain’t one.
Thinning hair. On this day, I am dreaming of a pixie cut. Who wants to discuss this with me?
 photo BlogResolutionColorBlock820140817_zpsdbb5cbd0.jpg
2. You get to/have to take a trip around the world with one other person for a year. Who would you most enjoy/tolerate doing it with and why?
I'm going to say my friend from home,  Rachel. Not only is she a world-class traveler, with the smarts I'd need to survive a trip like this (she just spent three months in South America); she's a terrific friend and I miss spending time with her. Getting to hang out with her for a year around the world would be ultimate!
3. What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
We'll go with blogging compliment. Gigi said she loves my "friendly, witty writing style." Not a cop-out answer, ok? It's really nice!
When I did an interview with Emily of Bon Marche Couture, she said, "She is bubbling over with enthusiasm and a sense of fun without being one of those people who makes you feel like a loser because her life is so effortlessly perfect."
Both things I strive for with my blog. Now that I'm feeling totally self-absorbed...

4. Name the next Kardashian sister. You can choose to continue the “K” dynasty or derail it forever…the power lies in your hands.
Kharity. L. O. L.
5. If it were impossible for you to fail at it, what’s one thing you’d do?
Be a stage actress full-time.
6. If you were to write a coffee table book about something, what would it be about?
First- this question is amazing. Teacups around the world, playlists for everything, theme parties, Beyonce, people in their cars, flower crowns; how could I pick just one?
 photo BlogResolutionColorBlock1620140817_zpse2f8e442.jpg
7. What possession does your best friend have that you’d like to steal the most? (FYI: “her boyfriend/girlfriend” is not an acceptable answer.)
Hmm her hair or maybe her engagement ring ;)
8. What was your favorite Disney Channel Original Movie? I liked Life Size.
Ironic: Cadet Kelly
Serious: All High School Musicals.
9. If you could change your name, would you? To what?
When I was younger I really liked classic names like Emily or Amy, but now, I don't think I would!  photo BlogResolutionColorBlock1020140817_zpsdd3f1d45.jpg
10. What’s your most guilty guilty pleasure?
Speaking of, watching the Disney Channel. Also bad pop music and eating dessert for breakfast/lunch/dinner.

11. Once you’ve made it and you’re filthy rich, what’s one thing you’re never going to do yourself again?
Park my car. Wash & put the sheets on my bed.

Thanks again for the nomination and the fun questions to answer, Gigi! Be sure and check her out at Dolce & Gabriella.

Ok, I'm off to enjoy the last few hours of the weekend.

In the meantime, I would love to hear your answers to some of these. Favorite Disney Channel Original Movie? Coffee table book? Kardashian sister? Guilty pleasure? Go go go!

this is one of my all-time favorite priya looks! it is, truly, perfectly you (obvi hence your blog name, i know). i looove when you lean towards vintage silhouettes because you've got the perfect figure/hair/personality for it. i love red and pink together and i'm always trying to argue for more of it. now i'm determined to do my own version of this outfit someday--and not just for valentines!

also, cadet kelly is legit one of my favs. i love the scene where all of her accessories fall out of her hat. because of your stage actress answer, i have to ask: are/were you a theatre kid??

as for the pixie cut, i am always the first to tell people to go for it. however, you are one of the only people who i might cry over you cutting your hair. don't let that stop you though. you would be too hot to handle with a pixie.

My notes:
- I love this outfit! You're pretty in pink and the pictures are excellent :)
- I think you would rock a pixie cut big time! I envy your thick hair, but we all want what we can't have (in the hair department, anyway!)
- I majored in Drama and have always been a theater lady (mostly into playwriting, costume design, and directing, but I love acting, too) so it's exciting to hear that you'd like to be a stage actress.
- I love your coffee table book ideas, especially the international teacups! I'm imagining someone having tea in every country (or at least on six of the seven continents) and what a great story that would be.
- I was always kind of embarrassed that I was more of a Disney kid than a Nickelodeon kid, but now I embrace it. I recently re-watched "Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century" and it was so excellent.

Ok, the sweetest! Yes, I've done musical theater throughout my life on and off, and I miss it so much! As for the pixie cut, I was just dreaming about it this weekend, but everyone I talked to said "NO." I'd like to someday, but I'm unsure how my hair texture would do with the short length!

Thank you thank you Isabella! You are so right about the hair thing, I just know I would miss it so much if I cut it all off. SO cool that you're into theater too! I had no idea! One of my favorite parts of Finland is "tea time" they do NOT joke around and I love that. And ok ZENON is SO GOOD I almost put that one down. Thanks for being so thoughtful :)

Priya, of my favorite things about you is the fact that you're completely fearless when it comes to fashion, especially playing with colors like you've done here. You've got pink, red, and hot magenta and normally, that'd seem a bit much to me. For some reason, on you, with the pieces you chose, they look amazing!! I so wish I could walk in those shoes. They're hot girl!

Cadet Kelly was always my fave Disney channel movie too. There were so many good ones though: Model Behavior (actually had the VHS), Life Size is great, Luck of the Irish, Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century, Seventeen Again, the list could go on. Have you been watching Girl Meets World? I just think it's adorable and I love seeing the old cast!

My coffee table book would be full of outfit ideas that I could copy exactly/mostly for when I'm stuck in the morning. Think Pinterest in book form. Oh, and pic by pic hair tutorials would be nice too :)

great outfit and I'm glad that your color rules have been smashed. Pink & red always look great together in my book! :)

Well, I don't know about completely fearless, but I definitely try to experiment! OMG- Model Behavior. Yes! I love your idea for a coffee table book. Thanks Lauren!

I had no idea you were into theatre! Go you that's so awesome! Also totally love the pink and red! I have a baby pink and red leotard somewhere that hasn't been worn in freaking FOREVER so thanks for reminding me of that... I shall dig it out and outfit it up or something.

Is it bad that I'm not that familiar with disney channel? Although I watched a lot of zack and cody during exam period. xxx

This might be a silly question but is it as big in the UK? Is it the same as it is here?

I love, love this outfit! I mean, it just makes me happy to look at it. Color rules were definitely made to be broken! And I'm glad you wouldn't change your name - i think it's awesome!

This is the first time I've ever checked back to see a reply to my comment.. which is bad I always reply to comments on my blog. Hahah! Thanks for yours! I think it's quite big but qhen I was a kid only certain providers included Disney channel, a lot of cable plans just had cartoon network and nickelodeon so I grew up with those two instead. :) xx

Love this look! I was just talking about pink + red together with co-workers the other day (one woman said "no way," the other said "why not?", I think it's awesome). And I think you would look adorable in a pixie cut!! I say go for it. I wore my hair short for years and I think it's an underrated look. You will get STARES (the good kind) and guys will hit on you more. It's a thing.

I love this so much! I am 100% with ya- Mo colors no rules!! I bet it looked pretty awesome with the orange shoes too! Loved reading your answers :)

One of my favorite outfits of yours! The color combination is so cool yet to need to be self confident enough to wear this. I was having on similar outfits so often but then never dared to go outside with them and changed again :/ now, I will take you as an example and just dare doing it next time!
